3. I aM unComFortable wheN...

Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable

I am uncomfortable when...

When I just can't stop laughing no matter how much I try!

When I stand out in a crowd.

When I enter the church late, during sermon and have to walk all the way past the staring eyes to the very first pew which, incidentally, happens to be the only one empty!

When I am home alone (for the night.)

When the doctor says "please get into the hospital gown"

When someone comes to me and waves vigorously saying a big HELLO and I have no clue whatsoever as to who that person is.

When I accidentally hit the send button on an email which I was NOT intending to send!

When I am around people who smoke.

When the person at the next table just cannot stop staring at my plate.

When I have to eat a seemingly large burger in front of meticulously dressed executives picking at their salads.

When people assume they know what I am going to do next and get offended when I end up not doing what they assumed.

When I hear the words "we need to talk" .

When I have guests over for dinner.

When people look at me and say "Oh My God, you are married for 10 years? I thought you were just out of college!"

When someone asks me about something that I am supposed to be proficient in and all of a sudden I just draw a blank.

When I have just done something silly hoping nobody would have noticed and turn around to see a group of people staring at me.

When I am asked to write about things that make me uncomfortable and I just can't seem to stop writing!

  1. When people come up and start talking to me, calling me by name and making it obvious they remember me......and I have NO clue who they are. Oi!

  4. Great list Nina. I had a friend who giggled terribly when she felt uncomfortable/ became emotional. Having laughed her way through her fiance's grandmothers funeral they split up soon afterwards.

  7. Great list. I am so with you about sending emails you didn't mean to send - I have done that more times than I wish to remember!

    Have a great weekend.

  8. Great list! And I, too, cannot stand those words 'we need to talk.'

  9. Very nice list. A lot on that list I can definitely relate - having guests over. Yeah! But a lot of those, I think, just make us more real and charming - drawing a blank on things you know you know, eating full on when others are picking, and people seeing you do something silly. Be thankful you're not a "perfect" human being and are more like the rest of us. :) Writer’s Mark

  10. Thats a great list, and I'm with you with the one where people know you but you have no idea who they are. A couple of years a ago I was hugged by this woman in the street and I had no clue who she was. Apparently I looked after her when I was a nursing student 13 years ago and she still remembered me!!!

  11. I think I am a nervous laugher, not always, but when I am it's pretty obnoxious.
And it is definitely uncomfortable to discover that many people saw the silly thing I accidentally did. I'm glad I don't live life with a live audience.

Thanks for your comment on my post yesterday. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  12. I am intrigued by:
'When I have to eat a seemingly large burger in front of meticulously dressed executives picking at their salads.'
I'm trying to imagine the scenario that would put you in this position... ? :)
